Asthma

Good asthma control leads to improved quality of life and reduced emergency admissions for asthma flare ups. Well controlled asthma means using a reliever inhaler such as Ventolin (salbutamol) no more than twice a week and having no night time symptoms. Inhaled corticosteroids can improve asthma control and treatment can be initiated and monitored by your GP. Inhaler technique is very important to ensure you receive the full dose of treatment and to minimise side effects. Patients on an asthma plan will have their inhaler technique checked regularly and routine treatment reviews so that treatment can be stepped down appropriately.
